PinAtlasTrail
PinAtlasTrail is a private travel atlas for marking the countries and US states you have set foot in. This page explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
PinAtlasTrail does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information.
Information we collect
None is collected by us. Anything you enter in the app — a display name, a home base, the year you visited a place, a rating, a private note, or a trip title and summary — is stored solely on your device and is never uploaded, synced or shared. There is no account, no sign-in and no server.
Data stored on your device
To make the app work, PinAtlasTrail stores the following only on your device, using the operating system's local storage:
- Pins — for each place you mark: its status (visited, lived there, transit only, or wish list), an optional year, an optional 1–5 rating, an optional private note, and the time the pin was added.
- Trip logs — a title, start and end dates, the places involved and a summary for each trip you record.
- Milestones — which of the twelve milestones you have reached.
- Traveller profile — the display name and traveller icon you choose and, optionally, a home base place.
- Preferences — whether the atlas defaults to countries or US states, whether transit stops count toward coverage, whether capitals are shown, compact rows, area units, and the sort order.
- A single flag noting that the introduction has been shown, so it is not repeated on every launch.
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to PinAtlasTrail or to any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it permanently.
Permissions
None. PinAtlasTrail does not ask for location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, file or notification access. Places are marked by hand; the app never reads your GPS position and cannot know where you actually are. The Android manifest carries only the INTERNET line that Flutter projects include by default, and no code in the app makes use of it.
Network use
The app is fully offline. All 246 places — 195 countries, the 50 US states and the District of Columbia, with their regions, capitals and land areas — and the eight curated routes are bundled inside the app package. PinAtlasTrail has no server and no API and makes no network requests of any kind.
Third-party services
None. No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, attribution or social SDK is integrated, and there are no ads and no in-app purchases. The open-source libraries the app uses (local storage, charts, confetti and animation) run entirely on the device and do not communicate with any external service.
Children's privacy
PinAtlasTrail is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because nothing is collected or transmitted, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to review or request the deletion of; uninstalling the app removes every trace of it.
Your rights
Your travel history belongs to you. You can edit or clear any pin, note or trip inside the app at any time, and uninstalling PinAtlasTrail permanently deletes the entire atlas, profile and preferences from your device. We hold no copy, because nothing ever leaves your phone.
